100% Charmeuse Silk Fabric is made from pure silk yarn, which is a natural fiber derived from mulberry silkworm cocoons. These mulberry silk cocoons are spun by silkworms that feed on mulberry leaves, producing the silk fiber.

The production process of 100% Charmeuse Silk Fabric is highly intricate and involves several stages. First, the silk cocoons undergo boiling and degumming to yield soft silk fibers. These silk fibers are then woven and dyed, followed by complex post-treatment processes to create the final product. The weaving process demands skilled labor and craftsmanship to ensure the highest quality fabric.

    What is Momme?
    Momme (often abbreviated as "mm") is a unit of measurement used to describe the weight and density of silk fabric. It is commonly used in the silk industry to indicate the quality and thickness of silk textiles. A higher momme weight indicates a denser, heavier fabric, more durable, while a lower momme weight indicates a lighter.
  • Fabric Width：
    100% Charmeuse Silk Fabric is available in various widths, commonly 90 cm, 114 cm, 240 cm, and 280 cm.
  • Colors:

Silk fabrics can be dyed in any color using eco-friendly acid dyes. Since silk fibers are natural, the color fastness typically ranges from 3 to 4 levels. Lighter shades generally do not fade, while darker shades may exhibit slight color loss (as long as they are not soaked for prolonged periods, there will be no color issues.). Some particularly vibrant colors may also show fading due to added essential oils (e.g., our color #55, which contains rose essential oil).

  • Fabric Sheen (Silk Shiny):
    The surface of 100% Charmeuse Silk Fabric features fine, uniform wrinkles and has a soft, smooth texture with a pearl-like luster (Silk Shiny). Due to the properties of silk fibers, the fabric’s sheen may diminish slightly after washing. Following standard washing and ironing instructions can help preserve the fabric’s original appearance.

  • Fabric Shrinkage:
    The typical shrinkage rate is around 5%.
